It’s been cold! Two days ago, at the worst of the cold weather, my central locking and boot soft close failed on my 2006 SL350.

I can no longer hear the PSE pump whirring.

Some research suggests that it’s either the fuse F71 (in the box behind the drives seat) or the pump is knackered.

So advice please.

I hear you can get the pumps refurbished – any recommendations?

Anything else I should be checking? I have read some suggestions that other fuses may be involved?

I’d start by checking the fuses , it is entirely possible that if some component froze due to the cold weather , that it blew a fuse because a stalled motor would draw excess current .

If after replacing the fuse , and with warmer temperatures returning , it is still not working , then worth talking to a specialist .

I don’t know the R230 intimately , although my neighbour had one when I had my R129 and we were always looking at each other’s cars . There may be more than one fuse box , worth looking in the boot and also the engine compartment, but the owners manual should tell you .

Fuse replaced alls well :)
If the fuse blows again don't replace it without checking for a leak in one of the lines to the pse pump or a leak in the boot locking mechanism. The boot lock is a favourite for causing the pse pump to over cook causing the fuse to blow. Owners who have repeatedly replaced this fuse have found that the pse pump eventually fails.

I wonder has anyone swapped these items out in the pump - there are some good video's on how to do it. Worth a try ?

Hi

Ive got the same problem on my Sl350 2011 R230 - no boot or door central locking / open - have replace fuse 54 (nee 71) and it blows immediately - you say here are some good videos out there to replace / fix but I cant find them - could you point me to them - best I can find is a text description on removing the roof pump and the PSE pump is below but I do like to visually see before I do! TIA
