i've just dropped my beloved off at Inchcape, Derby :( (& driven away in a lovely little 58 plate A class, MANUAL! how very dare they! i've been quite surprised how quickly i've reverted to a clutch & changing gears again :p ).

after about 6 months, we've noticed the occasional 'clunk' when the roof has closed. it's been very intermittant though & i asked them to check it when it was serviced last September but they couldn't find anything wrong. the service guy was fine though & said to just bring it back if it did it again, "this type of thing won't rectify itself & will probably just get worse" ...

well, it has, so they're having a look at it today & i was told they've got another similar age one to mine in for exactly the same problem! i did say i'd had a look on the owners forums ;) & there were a few problems reported but the cars were a fair bit older than mine. he assured me it's an unusual thing to happen...

fingers crossed it's all sorted today.

Its the hinge on the cover... the little plastic guide will have snapped...

The hinges are over £100 each and guess what.. the little plastic bit doesnt come separately! although if you are on a budget you can glue it...

let us know how you get on.

i've just been told that the hinge is faulty, it's on order & we'll back there again next week.

the other clk in today with a similar problem has been fixed as that was an alignment 'problem'.

design, technology & a bit of plastic eh?! all good stuff :D

Typical MB dealer, they assured me they had never heard of the 3rd brake light falling out of the bootlid in a w209 before. The MB forums have owners everywhere with this problem, some in the US are on their 4th or 5th brakelights.
