Hello all.
I bought a 2007 CL600 in July of this year from a main dealer with 12 month used approved warranty. Had about 36k miles and now has 38k. I believe it had its last service in Oct/Nov 2014 and may be due a service next month as a result (although I have seen online that MB recommend service for this vintage every 13k miles or 2 years??). At any rate I have a long road trip in December so will probably get it serviced before then anyway.

I have got an online quote from MB - this looks fine (in terms of cost) for the general service element but there are "additional service" items listed in the quote which include replacement of spark plugs and transmission oil and filter change (c.£650 and £300 respectively).

My question is whether the additional service items are required at this mileage or merely recommended? 38k doesn't seem like a lot of mileage for new plugs but perhaps it is age related? Car running well.

Thanks!

Hi, I had a 2005 CL v12 biturbo. That stated plugs require changing EVERY 4 YEARS...all 24 of them. I had them changed as a condition of purchase. It would have cost in the region of £750.
I would ask an independent MB specialist for a quote. The mileage on mine was lower than yours.
Hope this helps.

I had a 1997 CL420 when it was 6 years old and 32k miles on the clock. After a year of driving I found the automatic gearbox clumsy. It wouldn't kickdown consistently and a couple of times it surprised me with a kickdown unexpectedly. I never got this specifically checked and never had any electronics issues mentioned on servicing. I think it might have been the need to have transmission oil change. Many years ago so can't remember where I read this was potentially an issue.

If you feel the "clumsiness" in the gearbox then it might be worth having the oil changed. In my case, the car was much older (what with new technology) plus I had no record of a gearbox oil change.... I'm no expert... just my two pennies worth...
