I love my new car (well almost new) :D

Can anyone advise on the oil I should top up with please.

I happen to have about 6/7 LT of Fully synthetic from my last car (BMW) which im glad to be rid of. I would hate this oil to go waste given the price of it.

Thx

Mobil 1 5/w30 is what my dealer told me to get for the service - same model as yours - apparently any oil with the code 229.5 in the tech description is okay.

Certainly Mobil 1 can be used to top up any other type oil - including mineral - according to the blurb on the bottle. Check your oil to see if it says similar.

I would call the person/garage/dealer who serviced it last, and ask them, and then top up with the same - but probably overkill (in fact that's what I have done in the past).

If in doubt, you could just treat it to an oil change, and be sure.

Google saps and low ash oil before you stick anything in, in case you have a dpf.

Sorry i dont understand, what`s saps and low ash oil and dpf ?

off to google...

Thanks all for the replies

If you have a diesel particulate filter (DPF) you need an oil that does not produce ash residue and the low SAPS bit means low Sulphated Ash, Phosphorous and Sulphur, all of which will clog the DPF up. So:

With DPF: oil that meets MB229.31 or MB229.51 spec

No DPF: MB229.3 or MB229.5. (can use MB229.31 or MB229.51 spec as well)
