I have been offered an e220d 2007 w211 auto with only 32k miles its having an mot today. If it passes should I consider it? I'm concerned because its a diesel that has only done 2k miles the the last 8 years! Its a very good price. Please any help very much appreciated

Can you borrow it for a couple of hours and take it to an MB specialist for an inspection

Can you get the garage that’s doing the mot to do an Inspection ?

Is it at Thatcham Car Sales on Autotrader ?

I think that is a high price personally , low mileage is not always an advantage . Short journeys , never warmed up properly , brakes have done little for 8 years ?

Yes Thatcham. If it passes mot flying colours what are the risks

It is 14 years old, not a particularly sought after engine and the price quoted seems very high for the "advantage" of a low mileage.

Lots of things wear with age as well as use.

£4000 with a warranty would seem more like it.

I bought it, I negotiated a good price. I didn't want the v6 I wanted economy. What is the first thing you would get done, get the DPF cleaned?

It passed the mot today without even one advisory and its absolutely mint inside and out

Firstly, has it got a DPF?. Not all where fitted with one, secondly, if it has and it just passed an MOT emission and smoke test why do you think it needs "cleaning"?

I would be looking at a proper transmission service if it hasn't had one recently.

It's only done 2k miles in the last 8 years. So I'm assuming it was owned by an old boy who just went to the shops ie short journeys. If you know if the e220d w211 has a dpf I would be grateful? I have always wanted a w211 I love the look of it

Thanks will definitely get transmission fluid changed asap

The best thing to do is drive it , enjoy it and use it , you can get to caught up in looking for problems , they will soon show themselves and that’s when to sort them . It will be a super car .

Thanks yes you are right. The only things I'm concerned about being a diesel are the DPF if it has one and the transmission. Just because its done 2k miles in the last 8 years and very possibly short journeys

Don't do anything to it (for now).

Drive it, drive it and drive it, any problems then drive it back to the garage that sold you it. ;)
