Hi. I have a 2007 E280 CDI Sport with a MB Bluetooth Adapter/Module fitted inside the stowage compartment under the armrest.

I have an issue in that my Phone (or car) disconnects/looses its Bluetooth connection after 15 minutes; ie, every time that I get into the car, the phone/car connects as advertised, but that connection then drops out after approximately 15 minutes.

If I receive a call after those 15 minutes have elapsed when the phone/car has disconnected, the phone/car does not reconnect - indeed, I would be better off reverting to my Jabra hands-free because I could then answer the call (hands-free).

Does anybody know 'why' my phone/car disconnects after 15 minutes and how do I stop this happening?

Thanks in advance for any answers to resolve this issue - I've owned the car for 6 months and it has always had this issue/problem.

Regards

What phone are you using Wolfie?
Does the fault occur on any mobile phone?
Is it since you changed your handset or has this always been the issue since acquiring the car?

My experiences with older & sometimes new Oe Bluetooth types are ...
If it's a latest model Smartphone the chances are its a software related issue... Basically your Bluetooth module in the car is possibly not up to date to current Bluetooth protocols which will then cause related faults..hence in your instance the dropping out.

Also check that your phone Bluetooth setting are not on hidden after a certain time...I know certain Samsung phones do this & you need to authorise the handset too.

Hope this helps...best way to eliminate above is just to pair a older generation phone ie..Nokia & see if fault persists.

Hi Ash ... yes, I am using a Samsung phone (B7610 Omni Pro) but I am a bit of a Luddite with technology. How do I check whether my Bluetooth settings are becoming hidden after 15 minutes, or is it possible to upgrade the Bluetooth software/firmware on the MB Bluetooth adapter?
Oh, my Samsung is my only mobile phone, hence, I cannot check issue against another phone.
Thanks & Regards

I am not too familiar with windows 6.1 but have a root around in the settings under bluetooth and look for a setting along the lines of visible to connected devices and make sure its ticked/ dotted also have a look for remain powered on for connected devices.
If you find the device in the settings check to make sure its set to automatically connect
Sorry i cant be more specific as its 4+ years since i had a windows based mobile

Hi. I've had a look through every sub-menu on my phone and can find no settings that would cause a bluetooth connection to disconnect after a specific time period - yet, the phone/car disconnect continues.
From the responses received, it sounds as if the issue is phone related rather than car ... the object of my original question was to confirm that there were no 'hidden' menus within the car that would cause this disconnect. There would not apparently seem to be a problem with the MB bluetooth device in the car, thanks.
I guess that I will end up having to put my Jabra hansfree into my E280 ... disappointing.
Thanks for the advice received.

Do you know what type of bluetooth interface your car has? - I have had similar issues with my SAP V2 module when the phone wasn't quite compatible with the car. If you're not sure could you post a photo?

Also, are you using any other bluetooth devices with the phone when you're connecting to the car? This can cause issues where the two fight over the phone resulting on one disconnecting. I've had this when using a bluetooth car kit and bluetooth music interface.
