Hi. I've just bought a 2007 e280 cdi and I'm wondering what the gearbox service schedule is.

I had a quick look through the maintenance book and none of the services stamped have ticked the gearbox service.

I would have assumed this was part of the servicing schedule but book not showing any stamp.

What is the recommended mileage for the service?

Car has done 145k so assuming it's well over due.

Gearbox works well and changes smoothly, the only slight issue I have noticed is when the car changes down when coming to a stop sometime there is a very faint jurk

5 years for sure and I think 75k. I would rush to get it serviced before the bearings get messed up and the solenoids begin to fail. I experienced it on my CL and E.

MB claim that there is no change schedule, sealed for life - - yeah, right. As Riva says, get it done NOW ! Your indi will help, it's a bit specialised.

That’s the later ones buddy

It’s every 40,000 miles buddy , same as my 2008/9 E320cdi

Indeed.

I believe that the 7g boxes were every 3 years or 40,000 miles, while the later 7g+ (~2010 onwards) are 5 years or 77,500 miles. In-between, some boxes were classified as 'sealed for life', but we know this is rubbish.

Indeedy buddy

Both CL and E were making a high pitch noise, it w the bearings without transmission oil. Had it serviced by Mercedes-Benz, they said your bearings need changing, did it for 150 if not less. Car made such a huge difference on performance. The E-class whizzes and EML came up cos the solenoids failed. The engine is almost toasted because the car changes after 4k RPM of you push it.

Sorry, didnt understand much of that. Mercedes changed your gearbox bearings for £150 and there was no oil in the gearbox ?
