My 2007 E350 has not had it's Navigation System (Maps etc) updated for ages and I was wanting to do that, to bring the Navsystem up todate with 2023 maps etc. The problem I have though is that I was told (right or wrongly) that the newest updates I could get for my car were only to 2012 and would cost me around $200 (US)????

Can someone confirm or refute that please. Frankly, I find it hard to believe that the system can only be updated to 2012 levels. IF that is true, can someone tell me if the entire system can be upgraded to current MB nav systems OR to a different Nav System altogether that will replace the MB one. Does that make sense?

Sorry, to clarify - if my Nav System can't be updated to 2023 maps, then can someone tell a very good replacement for the factory MB Nav System.

Should have added that I will post a pic of the system I have in the car at the moment. All I can add (from memory) is the nav unit itself is located in the boot (trunk) I believe?????

My guess is that your only option is an Android replacement head unit, e.g.:

You lose originality but gain functionality.

I had a nagging suspicion that a full replacement was going to be the only option, well in terms of having the "on board nav system". Currently I use a Garmin GPS which does the job obviously, but would like to use the on board nav which is a tad more convenient.

Thanks for the link though, as they aren't as costly as I imagined ... cheers.

Have a look on ebay, the people on there will know what you are after and put you right, if it don't work you send it back i just bought for a later car £25 and update works fine.

Am I correct in saying that you got the "updated maps" ?

If that is correct then I will certainly look around. To be honest, I never considered ebay as a source for the updates.

yea mine had 2016 maps now 2023 off ebay all has been ok
But his is 2007 and works completely differently and needs a disk installed in the nav drive in the boot (trunk) where it has to stay.

As the OP is in USA I don't know the last map release for his car, but Europe it would be 2018/2019 which may be new enough to keep the OP happy for a couple of years!

Replacing the system can be done, but the amplifier and radio receiver is in the boot (trunk) so you have to extend all of that to the front of the car (the existing stereo is just a low power display really). If car has Harmon Kardon then all much more difficult. You can use a fibre optic interface but you lose front/rear fader

Thanks, and you are correct on all counts, including the fact that I do have the Harmon Kardon System. From what you are saying it sounds like more of a hassle to update/upgrade the thing than what it will be worth. Think I'll just stick with using the Garmin I have for my other vehicle.

It's actually not much of a hassle, IF you can find a CD that works with your system and has newer maps? Can you identify the infotainment system via the Datacard - e.g. COMAND APS NTG1?
