Guys,
Have this car not even a week.
I'll try to explain.
When car is cold, on warm up - just around 40-50 degrees it starts to smoke badly, literally like a locomotive. That lasts not even a minute then stops to smoke totally. Not even a cloud of smoke, I can floor it whatever I do when warm it doesn't do it, not a puff or fart nothing at all :wallbash:
Any ideas? :dk:
I will do a short clip tomorrow morning

Black, blue or white?

Sorted
Bad diesel.....them private petrol stations!!!!
Need to check now if I don't have a dodgy injector too or was changed prior sale with bad craftsmanship

Guys,
Bit of advise pls
Well last Sunday driven the car till empty as per dodgy diesel fill up.Added slick50 injector cleaner, filled up with Shell Nitro+.Car runs great rest of sunday, whole monday and yesterday till the evening.Went to pick up my misses and noticed smoke in my back mirror, pulled over car was smoking a bit and definitely felt too much of diesel fumes-It cleared in seconds.
Today straight away Went to see my mate who has a Star to check for any faults, injector problems? All the way there 50 miles not even a cloud of smoke.Star plugged in, no faults. We checked actual values on injectors one seemed had a bit different then the others was in negative -0.45 but then we revved the car and all values matched each other. On idle, after that all injectors values seemed nearly the same.We changed the fuel filter and oil (level was risen by a bit).Though that would indicate of diesel getting to the oil, right?
All the way home car was fine
How to check for a dodgy injector or is it still have some dodgy diesel in tank?

My dad's 08 S320 CDI gives out white steam (not smoke I would say) on cold start-up and dissapears after maybe 5 minutes or so. But never had any smoke from exhaust.

You would want to keep the DPF happy if you use the car for mainly town driving. Put a can of DPF cleaner in tank then fill fuel tank to maximum capacity and take the car for a 20-25 minute spin. My dad does this every 2-3 months and so far the DPF hasn't thrown any errors.

Thanx for your reply
Have you seen the video I added?
Star doesn't throw any fault codes at all
I know what you mean by steamy smoke, thats normal ... Mine is more like grey

Hi I'm new to mercs but not to Diesel engines and I know for a fact that if you have heater plugs that have failed it will cause like a light grey smoke as the fuel is burning at to low a temp especially as it seems to happen after the initial start up.

Hi there
Glow plugs are ok.In merc if they fail dash will light up glow plug light. Also Star will catch that straight away
Small update, after changing fuel filter and oil, yesterday evening (car stood for more then 24hrs and temp outside was 2 degrees) driven it and didn't made any smoke whatsoever

I'm blaming all on water
Think car stood for a while at dealership, once I driven it nearly till empty it sucked all the crap from bottom of the tank and boom smokey we go
Hopefully it will get better and better
It really run so sweat yesterday, couldn't tell its a diesel from the cabin
That's why I love S class
Fingers crossed

That's good news. Hopefully it shouldn't give out any more smoke.

I would strongly suggest giving the car some iinjector cleaner treatment. It made a great difference in my dad's car and his previous 280 CDI.

Would you be so kind and ask your dads what dpf cleaner he uses
Would treat mine with that too
Better off with recomendation
Thanx

No problem, our local MB indy suggested any DPF cleaner does the job. My dad uses Triple QX DPF Cleaner, £10 at ECP. Its not a really reputable brand I believe but does the job it seems.

I'm 99% sure your S-Class has a DPF but double check to see if it doesn't have it or if its been removed.

If I've had the problems you've had I would think about totally draining the fuel tank and flushing it out but also consider these read the reviews.
I put the first one in my partners Citroen C1 and soon after the management light when off as this car is only used for local runs.

That's good news. A dash of injector cleaner / good fuel and DPF cleaner should keep her happy. Enjoy your cruising on AirMatic :)
