Hi all,

New to the site with a new (to me) 2007 S500

I have looked at the VIN and I can see that Digtial TV has been enabled, yet unfortnatley on the COMAND under video I only have the option for DVD and not TV :(

I have taken then trim off the boot and can see the TV module is there and plugged in, but I am not sure if I am missing a plug or not.

Any advice would be hugely apprecaited as I would love to enable the AUX video and audio inputs.

Did you unplug the power connector before the photo? If it was unplugged, the fibre cables must also be separated from the MOST loop, have you checked?

Hi Diesel Benz, thanks for replying.

In the photo, that is how I found the unit. All have done is unhooked and reconnected them to see if it helped; it didn't :(

I can see no loose cables or connectors that would plug into the smaller right hand side receptacle.

Where does the harness that goes over the fibre connector end up? Can you figure out the wire colours?

Looks like the TV tuner had been removed from the system, no power and then fibre cables would have to have been rerouted too.

I could not see any water damage from the photos. Don't know if the tuners fail often.

Mine failed recently. Factory Digital TV in Comand NTG 1. CLS55.
Had been working well, within the limits of DTV reception. Reception became progresseively poorer until none at all. Now when scanning it fails to pick up any station. DVD works fine.
Tuner has never been touched so I'll watch this thread and see if I can learn anything.

It also may have been the antenna system (4-way diversity receiver) that failed if it happened progressively.

The TV tuner could have failed and gone into optical bypass mode, or the COMAND could have forgotten it's coding. Go see Comand.co.uk (Comand online) in Lightwater ? I don't know where in Surrey you are, so may be very near.
Richard

Hi Richard,

Many thanks. I called COMAND earlier this week as I am only in Caterham and not far. I am going to try and get down there. The chap said Thursday is the best day.

For those that are interested. I plugged my iCarsoft diags in and was able to query the TV tuner module. It reported back as on. I visited Richard at COMAND Online to get the AUX enabled and whilst there it was noted that the TV tuner was not coded in. A quick click later and it is now working fine. Digital TV is solid.

I can only assume that the front control unit was replaced at some point to a unit without the TV being enabled.
