Hello everyone,

I'm looking at putting a 2007 M113K AMG SL55 engine into my W123 track car.
It will be converted to a manual gearbox and run a standalone ECU, which I'm looking at options now.
My question is, is the M113K engine variable valve timing or not?

Cheers Frank.

No, it isn't.

No, it isn't.
Thanks, I thought that was the case, then a random thing popped up on google advertising VVT solenoid replacement for SL55 and then I started to doubt myself 🤦‍♂️

Later models of SL55 perhaps? Certainly not the M113, though.

2007 is as late as they come and not even on that one. You're talking a complete redesign of the engine, heads, timing... everything basically. Mercedes did that and called it "M156".

Luckily, M113 is safe from all that eco-driven malarkey.
