2008 Facelift model with the NTG 2.5. LED tail lights, Trapezoidal exhausts etc (looks much better than the ones on the earlier models, much more modern) , a fairly rare combination, not many facelift models out there and most are diesels, as it is the later 5.5 500 it gets a healthy 388 bhp and goes really well, if you cant quite stretch to a 55 or 63 this gives 80 percent of the power in a more laid back package, I had a 350Z before and this is just so so much nicer and no worse on fuel, averaging 20 mpg, have seen 30, once, I got my son to take a photo, realistically 28 on a run, late teens/early twenties knocking about.
Only selling as I have an AMG shaped itch to scratch and will buy an older, leggier and possibly more problematic car, I should stick with this as it has been a revelation as my introduction to Mercedes ownership but you have to do what you have to do.
115,653 miles, four owners listed, the original owner, then a husband and wife in Huddersfield had it and then myself. Was looked after most of its life by the dealer I bought it from, Delaceys in Huddersfield.
It is silver with the Alpaca grey interior with Laurel dash, both body and interior are very good for the age and mileage, all I can think of is a few stone chips and the PO has scuffed the leather on the rear centre console, oh and the fold function on the passenger mirror doesn't work, the heating and adjustments work so I have not bothered fixing it, other than that cant really think of anything, they are very well made and it shows at nearly nine years old, hence why I will stick with Mercedes now ! (I appreciate they have had their moments, W210 rust etc)
Spec wise, it has all the usual stuff like four zone climate, the aforementioned Sat Nav, Music Register, DVD playback, electric everything but you knew that,
It doesn't have Xenons, memory seats or HK Audio, someone didnt tick a couple of boxes ! I must say that I am very impresed with the standard system, the HK must be immense as this is the best system I have personally had in a car, I would take a couple less options but get the facelift and the best non AMG engine they put in the CLS was my thinking, anything else with that engine is is 15 grand plus, the old V8 was good, I drove one but this has another 82 bhp and it shows, takes it from pretty brisk to breathtaking. Car and driver managed 60 in 4.7 and 100 in 11.6, 2.4 seconds quicker to 100 than the 5.0 litre version, splits the difference between that and a CLS 55.
2007 Mercedes-Benz CLS550 - Short Take Road Test - Car Reviews - Car and Driver
It has had four brand new P Zero Rossos fitted about 4k ago, serviced by my own fair hand (in IT now but used to work in a garage, long story ! had oil, filters, brake fluid etc) about 1500 miles ago, got all the details of what I have done and previous history.
Replaced the leaky cam blanking plug on the back of the engine that these and the V6, suffer with.
Both Keys present as is the book pack.
Mot Until December
Brakes dont need doing any time soon, fluid change for ATE recently as mentioned.
Starts and runs perfectly, idles perfectly, pulls better than any train I have ever ridden on
Airmatic does its job, it sits nice and level and despite being a concern for me hasnt given me any problems, being able to adjust it as you go is great.
Being a facelift, it doesn't have the SBC brakes so one less worry.
It has the M273 engine which had issues with wonky chain sprockets that wore and caused errors and a big rebuild, this car is post those issues, I checked the engine number before I bought it.
Would consider a deal with a W211 E55 or CLS 55
