Morning everyone,

I have come back to a Mercedes after a couple of years of driving a Lexus (Please don't judge lol) and I have to say I absolutely love it.

The only thing that annoys me is that the car don't have a reversing camera and want to get one retrofitted.

How do I tell what audio system I have to see if it is compatible. The system has a 6disc changer, Navigation and the headunit has a PCMCIA slot under the volume knob. The car was advertised with an Audio20 system but didn't think the Audio20 system had the navigation?

Also can anyone suggest a company to do the retrofit?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

You have COMAND NTG4 which supports a reversing camera. (I can tell this because you have the PCMCIA slot).

(edit: to be really accurate, as you have an E class, it is NTG4-W212, and you need to differentiate when you do map updates)

Talk to Alfie @ Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk, he can do you a genuine Mercedes retrofit, or an aftermarket part depending on what you want to spend. In my opinion the genuine camera is more expensive. And with a genuine camera the datacard gets updated so MB dealer can see its fitted, and head unit can be software updated etc in the future without having to turn the camera back on again after a s/w update

Cheers

Richard

Thanks Richard,

Really appreciate your help. I shall give Alfie a call tomorrow to get the camera installed.

Thanks mate

I'm sure the W212 reference is because the Coupe shares the same unit as the saloon / estate. But you may want to be clear if you have the Coupe the model is a C207 not a W212.

Yes W212 and W207 NTG4 COMAND (and thus navigation map updates) are the same and are referred to as NTG4-W212. The display is a higher resolution than the NTG4 installed in pre-2012 facelift W204

Thanks Richard, thought that was the case, but just wanted the OP to be sure about the model they had :D

Thanks to both of you on your help on this.

I have spoken with Alfie this morning in regards to the retrofit and will have it done hopefully at some point next week.
