2010 C207 not starting. Battery fine, keys fine and car unlocks but then nothing.

Putting this in the electronics and not engine as i don't believe it is a engine issue but mods feel free to move if you think otherwise.

Issue as follows: -

1. Unlock car with the key and doors open as expected
2. Open door and interior lights come on and wing mirrors swing out
3. Put key in ignition and nothing (same for both keys)

Battery in the car is fine

A Google would suggest that this might be something to do with the Electronic Ignition Switch that appears to be a common problem but i cannot tie down the exact same symptoms.

Will do a full write up on this later when I've tested it but in case anyone is in any doubt as to what your electronic steering lock motor looks like after 10 years of use check this out.

The quality of these little motors used in various applications by MB is to say the least poor. I have had two failures, one mirror fold motor and one seat pump motor that I managed to strip clean and rebuild.
