2010 e class centre console rotary selector not working

Hi, the rotary selector switch for my radio, nav etc is not working, I can select things when clicking the rotary selector but when rotating the selector nothing happens, has anyone come across this before??

Yes. Replace the rotary switch.

So I have bought the replacement shaft and managed to remove so much of the centre console but the connector that connects the rotary knob cannot easily be removed as it is attached to the side of the console. One YouTube video suggests cutting the cable and resilfmdeeing which I am not keen to do. Anyone else managed to remove this connector without cutting the cable?

Theres a clip in the black bit that moves to let the white bit slide off (possibly backwards). Look down the middle of the black bit.
