Hi there,
My sprinter has an intermittent problem.
The engine management light flicks on, and the vehicle goes into limp mode. There is no trend as to why, it can be on long journeys or short journeys. It can sometimes be reset by turning the engine off for 30 minutes or so. It goes into LM only about 15% of the time and can sometimes travel 500 miles without any problems.
I have noticed that there is another intermittent problem which only occurs when the vehicle is in Limp mode (and only occurs when already in limp mode, never the other way round). That is that the oil level indicator light comes on and says the oil level is too high. This never happens when not in limp mode.
I have obviously checked the oil level and although it is at max it is not above it. It had a full service 4000 miles back and is shortly due for another one, but i want to go to the mechanic with some context as to what might be the problem. It feels like the two problems could well be connected. Can anyone help me?
