Hi all, looking for a bit of help, my drivers side dipped beam went out last night. I’ve swapped the bulbs around, driver to passenger etc, still out on the drivers side, so obviously not the bulb. I’ve checked all the fuses, which are ok. Please help, Mercedes want to charge me 170, to plug it in

Could still be something simple. I would get two brand new bulbs first, then I would check the connections on the plug, if they are corroded (seen by a greenish crust inside the terminals) then this would cause the bulb not to work. I have a can of electrical contact cleaner spray which I use for this kind of thing. If you have any kind of tester you can check for 12V at the bulb connection. Also check all the wiring around the head light for damage or breakages.

If one side works and not the other it cannot be anything major causing the issue.

Cheers

Hi tony , thanks for replying. I bought new bulbs , no change, changed the sam unit, light still didn’t work and the car wouldn’t start, didn’t realise they weren’t plug and play. Put the old Sam back on, so still in the same position, I’ll start checking terminals

Could be the driver's side headlamp ballast has failed.
IIRC these headlamps and components need coding to the car and are not easily swapped.
You should find an independent MB specialist with good STAR knowledge to read the codes. Guessing can get expensive very quickly!
