2011 SCOTLAND Christmas dinner

Was out yesterday for lunch and had the Fillet steak medallions here: Castle Inn | Dirleton

Would thoroughly recommend it for the greedy-gits / gourmets amongst us. Worth considering as a GTG location for next year.

Had several great meals there - trouble is, it's so far east for some members, they'll have a nose-bleed...

Wouldn't bother me. Beautiful part of the country in the right weather.

Only 200 miles from our house. Entirely doable. Whats the driving like on the roads once you are east of Edinburgh. Also is there a ferry to Kirkcaldy from that bit of headland as you head up to Dirleton. We have a buddy who lives there and could throw in a visit to him either on the way up or back. A ferry would be a very pleasant excursion. TIA.

TJ,

East Lothian is a very pleasant county and has some lovely quiet roads - the local authority seems to like keeping them in good condition. Getting to Dirleton is straightforward enough as you just turn off the A1 and drive a few miles cross country. I don't think there is a vehicle ferry to Kirkcaldy - you'd need to head round the Edinburgh city bypass and over the Forth Road bridge. If we get around to organising this venue for a GTG it would be good to see you up here again.

Many thanks for the info.

There is no doubt that Elizabeth and I will be up to Scotland again next year.
Be it on Steve's long legged trip or something a little more sedate remains to be seen.Certainly we had an excellent time up there this year.

Nice one George. Thanks for making the effort. Must say...you're the only person I've ever met who looks just like their avatar.

Well, apart from *** that is. :bannana:

Folks, another very successful and enjoyable GTG at Stirling. Some old faces (well mine's been around for a while anyway!) and some new. Big thank you to Fuzzer for making all the arrangements and chivving us up to attend.

A magician was in attendance to dazzle us with a variety of tricks

However, even he was astonished at the way *** could make a three course meal disappear.

..........and the award for the artist looking most like a psychopathic axe-murderer goes to.....(only kidding!)
