2012 C220 (w204) light sensors

Hi guys

So my 2012 C220 (w204) is showing as the brake light and right cornering light need a change. I had my service a couple of weeks ago by Mercedes and asked them to change the lights as well.

However they said the lights are fine and don't need changing and the sensors may be malfunctioning. But before they can do anything they will need to run a diagnostics at £150...

Now I have a 3rd party warranty on the car (with warranty wise) who have said they will cover the repairs but I will need to pay for the diagnostics.

Is there anyway I can get this done without having to pay for the diagnostics? Will Mercedes be likely to waive this fee?

Or can I have a look at the sensors myself?

Seems high for a diagnostic check but no harm asking them to waive the fee if the work is carried out by them.

Alternatively use a specialist Mercedes workshop who would no doubt be better price wise.
