Hi everyone I have recently upgraded my rim sim seize form 18" to 19". I have 245/35/19 on the front and 275/35/19 on the rear but the car looks like a drag racer. High on the rear and low on front. Have I got the right tyre size on the front?

The answer should be within your Handbook.

Isn't it on the inside of the fuel filler flap. Tyre pressures for various sizes?

The rear tyres are the wrong profile. They should be 275x30x19 rears.
The front tyres are the correct dimensions.
Click on your alloy and scroll down for tyre size

My C238 has 245/40 19 on the front and 275/35 19 on the rear as standard. This makes the tyre wall dimension approximately the same front and rear.

Example below:

  • 205 is the width of your tyre, this is measured in millimeters (205mm)
  • 55 is the tyre’s profile or height, measured as a percentage of the overall tyre width
  • R indicates that it is a radial tyre
  • 16 is the diameter of the wheel rim, measured in inches (16”)
  • 96 is the load index (maximum tyre load capacity)
  • W indicates the speed rating (maximum approved tyre speed)

I'm just wondering what was the original Mercedes recommended tyre size for 19" alloys for this car. Should I lift the tyre profile on the front or lower the rear

The front are correct, it is the rear that need changing.

Your handbook will list the range of tyre sizes that Mercedes specified with the vehicle.

245x35%=85.75
275x35%=96.25

Change the fronts to 245/40/19=98
or
Change the rears to 275/30/19= 82.5

30 aspect is going to feel very harsh so if it were me, I would leave the rears and go to 245/40 fronts.
However Mercedes do list 245/35F 275/30R according to this Mercedes-Benz Fitting Chart and Wheel Fitment Guide | Alloy Wheels Direct

So your choice really.

You can't apply maths to tyres pal .

Huge missinformation .

Below is a rare find...

So that's the widths delt with , now for the aspect ratio !

205 55 16 Vs 235 45 17

What's the overall diameter difference in mm ?

So given that tyres are not produced to exact dimensions, how would you advise the OP? Indeed, how would you advise anyone on their tyre sizes?
I am not sure what point you are trying to make, surely not suggesting some sort of industry wide conspiracy?
We can only go by the sizes as on the tyres and in 55 years of motoring it has never given me a problem, and I am sure that I am not alone.

My advice is to keep to the manufacturer recommended sizes .

With one manufacturer 205 55 16 and 235 45 17 are recommended but in the real world are massively different than the math .

Hey thanks for all the replies much appreciated still haven't decided I understand Mercedes states 275/30/19 on the rear, however like 'JHS' said drive will be harsh. I'm going on a long journey. 🤔

That's the other tyre misconception , ride quality is more to do with overall tyre and wheel weight but people see a slimmer tyre profile and blame it on that .

With heavy wheels the dampers damp less accurately giving a bumpy ride .

Unsprung mass...
