Hi guys,

Had my C63 for a week.

I've owned a Merc before so I'm familiar with the footbrake instead of the handbrake.

Having to give this one a good few hard presses to get it to hold on hills though.

What's the scenario for adjusting the rear shoes which I think this has?

May be worn shoes but I will try and adjust first.

Shoes that operate on the inside of the brake disc to operate the parking brake.

Many cars have these.

Not drums and shoes for normal braking, that's ridiculous.

I thought they are called pads not shoes...my bad...

I replaced my rear shoes not so long ago because the hand brake was terrible. When I got it stripped down I found the shoes were toast and the drums were cracked. So I replaced the shoes and the discs/drums. I then adjusted them with the adjusters in the rear brakes. If you remove a rear wheel and shine a torch through one of the wheel bolt holes turn the disc till you can see the adjusting wheel on the shoe carrier. You can then insert a flat screw driver and slowly turn the wheel till it locks up the rear disc and then back it off till the disc just revolves. Sorry I can not remember which way tightens and which slackens. Look at the photos it should make sense what I mean.
