Hi,
My Mercedes has a factory fitted audio 20 system installed (Model NTG 4.5 (1CD) Made by Panasonic.
I have searched the car for an external amp on both sides of the boot behind the panels. I have also removed the glove box as I read that often amp modules are sometimes located here. But no amp to be found!
So I'm thinking that the header unit must have been running from an inbuilt amp? I've since removed the header unit and it does have a cooling fan, so likely that it does have an internal amp?
There doesn't appear to be any obvious wiring issues, so I am now thinking to have the header unit tested and repaired. I'm struggling to find someone that can do this though, can anyone recommend a UK based company?
Alternatively, I could buy a secondhand unit and have it recoded, plenty of these on ebay. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to obtain the code needed or whether this is even possible?
Any help/advice on this would be really appreciated.
