2013 SL-Class revised for UK market

CLS - but in 63 guise and more so shooting break than 4 door coupe

G WAGON - 55... THE 63 AND 65 ARE ALITTLE TOO IN YOUR FACE

E63 SALOON - FACELIFT - YES YES

SLS

the standard variants are actually so bland its quite sad!

the fact that the a class and b class, as examples, have had to stoop to sharp angular creases almost like the ridiculous SEAT design philosophy is just an example of design shift and lowering the prestige of the brand.. radical, not sensible!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... The R230 had and still has it spot on within and without. However the single slot black grille ( well made) I fixed to the front of my 2005 SL350 is going to have to come off and will be for sale shortly on here. £125 new but I had to try it. There has been mention that it leaves a small gap adjacent to the bonnet lip....and I agree ....it does niggle and mess with the front end look. The original one looks better. My avatar shows this. If it ain't broken......
I saw a new R231 in Leeds yesterday and it didn't impress me.

It is quite revealing that a 2013 SL500 is £79,970 whereas a 1995-1999 one was about £100,000.

List price in 1997 was actually pretty similar at £80,700, But that's equivalent to £127,500 now.

I have the original bill of sale on mine and it was a fraction shy of £100,000 in 1999.

That was presumably with a fair few options though? On my 1997 price list you *could* spec. a 500 up to £99k or so, but presumbly the R231 prices being quoted are basic list so that's what we should be comparing with.

Thinking that a poverty spec 231 probably has more toys than a fully loaded 129 but yes you're probably on the money there.

I've got an SL63 due to arrive end of June. Can't wait. The interior is abolutely stunning in my opinion and they are very, very rapid with a brilliant choice of various characters/modes depending what mood you're in. They look great in certain colours and not so good in others, like a lot of modern cars now thanks to crash regulations. One little chip tune and the bi-turbo V8 is knocking out 670 bhp.. More than enough to keep me interested! ;)

I've ordered mine in Designo Allanite Grey, a matt colour, with the optional 10 spoke alloys and extended black leather nappa with carbon trim. Added the LSD and ceramic brakes. The factory performance pack is a rip off for the extra HP gain from what is a software change, so I fitted it with the tasty bits in prep for the extra HP if I ever get bored.

I realise it's not the best looking SL ever made, but I think it looks plenty beastly enough and the interior is just beautiful, aside from the wonkey air vents, my OCD isn't bad enough to worry about that as you don't notice it sitting in the drivers seat. Each to their own eh!

Here's some piccies of what it should look like. The colour the same as the CLS, the SL shown is Crystal Magno, but in the light it's shown in will be similar.

I'm jealous :)

those 10 spoke alloys are simply stunning .. straight out of the SLS :)

Hiya, I think the wheels are a little different to the SLS?, bespoke for the SL.

SLS has those wheels as an option ..

they were standard on the C63 BS ..

or at least they are the same sort of design

Yes not quite the same as a c63 bs/sls.

Congrats on the sl.

They're all slighly different wheel designs....the SLS and C63BS look most similar, but even they are different. The C63 BS has a more aggressive dish on the rears than the slightly flatter SLS design. Also, the C63 BS are 19" all round, the SL 20" all round and the SLS a mix of 19/20" F/R.

And despite having 'these' wheels on my car, when it comes to this design I like the SLS design the least. The SLS IMO needs larger 20"F/21"R rather than the 19"F/20"R that is fitted. However, I have to say they're REALLY light - I can hold a wheel AND tyre out in front of me with my arms straight - I coudn't do this with normal 20" wheels and they are the lightest forged wheels I've attempted to handle.

Nice car Lager...did you get a good deal with anything over and above the advertised MB deals?

Just for reference but the SL wheels are 19" front and 20" rear too. I bought them as I knew they'd be a lot lighter as I have a forged AMG set on my S65. The difference in weight between those and the Brabus split rims I have is monumental. I can hardly lift the Brabus rears they are ridiculously heavy. They are only on there as they offer a huge amount of traction which the S65 really benefits from.

As for the deal, yes, it was a little better than what's advertised.. ;)

Cool, I honestly didn't realise the wheels were staggered diameter on the SL. Anyway, gives a nice nose down 'stance' :)

Still don't like the SL, loved all of the previous models but this one is a bit of a munter :-(

Sat in one on Monday and its nice but not special enough, too much old switch gear from other models eg stereo / COMAND controls.

Would have a 650i cab anytime over it.

Dropped by Southampton yesterday and this one was in the showroom. Cerrusite matt or however you spell it. Bit too gangster for me this particular combo but pretty cool.
