So what is your answer to this question?
Being close to 50 with 2 teenage kids, mother, and wife I had to go for the S350 but with some simple modifications, I have made it a car to my likings. If it was just me, no doubt I would have got for the E63 S. What would your decision be?

You do realise there is a massive difference in running costs ?

However, I'll add to your insecurity .................

E63 for me all the way and I've previously had a V8 S500 and currently have an E220.

'There ain't no replacement for displacement'

Sounds like you need a s63 amg

Currently doing an extension, so thats not an option. Will probably end up being persuaded by my son to get an AMG for my next Mercedes, after he made me come to Mercedes World and let me have the 1 hour with AMG.:bannana:

I'd go with a Porsche Cayenne Diesel S. It does pretty much what both of the above do.

Apart from looks, which are crap.:D

Hard to compare those two cars, S class is bigger and more luxurious, and AMG... Well, it's AMG.:D

I dunno, this looks pretty nice to me - £75K in this spec with a twin turbo 4.2 diesel V8 and air suspension.

E63 S :thumb:.

Don't let anyone tell you that a big torquey diesel is close/can be made close, in performance terms, chipped or not.

I've had both and they are night and day.

I'm 52 with two kids.

Of course the S Class isn't faster than the E63 and no one can fool me ;p. Its the interior which brought me and my family over to the S Class. I found a good deal, with a good spec and the only way I could get it for that price is pay for it outright, so I ended up doing that after some tense moments. There were E63 lease deals which were incredible, and just as I decided to get one, boom, the prices had changed.
