When the headlamps have been washed the washer cover door does not close and is loose. I push it back shut carefully, until next time. It seems one arm has broken inside. I am pretty wizard at repairing broken things but need the parts in my hand! Apart from stripping the whole front off the car is there a way to access the mechanism from behind?

I can't help specifically with your SL, but on my S204 you can get at them by removing the DRL's (4 Torx screws on the S204)
