2016 C63 ‘S’ Coupe - Exhaust Question

I don’t know about more noise, my neighbours wouldn’t appreciate when I get home at 3am, but if I do want it louder I just drop the roof and I’ve got rolling thunder :D:D

Is there a little button on the centre console with a picture of the exhaust and a light which comes on in S+ or I mode but stays off in C or S mode?
If that's there then you have the option.

yes it has this

OK it has the option then.
The only other thing I'm aware of is the other thread on here from someone saying MB toned down the exhaust note on post 2016 models to comply with later emissions legislation. Mine is a 2016 model and with the switchable exhaust on the noise is significantly louder (and better) than my old 6.2 and with all the comical pops and bangs you could want, even at car park speeds. Maybe you have a slightly later/newer model. Or maybe my ears are just too sensitive!
Good luck anyway.

OP,

Have you stood behind your car when it is being revv'd ?

I drove a non S when I decided it wasn't fast enough and so looked for an E63.

My point is that they are so amazingly sound proofed that you can't hear their full awesomeness in the sound department. It took me having to stand behind the car and asking the sales guy to rev it a little. I can tell you that I was impressed with the bass and theatre of it, shocked is probably a better word

If that doesn't work then perhaps some specialist tuner can program it to dump some un burned fuel into the exhaust on over run. Should get what you want 100%

Afternoon all,

New to the forum so hopefully this is in the right place!

Picked up a 2016 C63 ‘S’ Coupe recently and wanted to know how I can make the exhaust pop/crackle/louder. Not too fussed in making it quicker so power gains are not the driver at all.

I really don’t want to lose the AMG sound and 100% don’t want it to sound raspy or anything with a drone.

Also anyone else in the Midlands area with a >2015 ‘S’ had any exhaust work done and can recommend any decent companies, it would be appreciated.

Cheers
You need to book it in with PCW, it’s about £340 and takes two hours.

Exhaust is taken off and the secondary cats are removed and replaced with straight pipe, the silencers in the resonator and back box also removed.

Will sound very rough and raw. I’ve done four of my cars with PCW over the last two years and each time has left a smile on my face.

PCWs Instagram page will show you other C63s with that modification, videos don’t capture half the reality though.

Wow, those are some serious mods, just rev it harder and drive it faster if you want more sound :) the reward comes from pushing the car hard as then the exhaust kicks up a real v8 stink. Also if it has a pano roof then opening that up will do the trick. After 2 years and 20k miles if it is a long term car then I think the stock sound is plenty but I agree it isnt loud in the cabin but listening to it from the outside is a whole different matter. My neighbour knows exactly when I drive past his house , even at low speeds...

And yes the 6.2 lump is epic but as a package the 4.0 63s are proper drivers cars that know how to properly go sideways with minimal effort :) if I could only have one car, I know which one it would be ... easy , w205 c63s.

oh wait, what's this ? Screenshot_20200119-073820_Nest.jpg

No wonder you sell them so fast buddy.

I forgot to mention, the sounds improves after a few thousand miles have been put on the clock and the pops and bangs get louder etc
To be honest the stock sound is so impressive, I would never mod it , however the E63 on the other hand needs some help to find it's best voice

Someone has dumped a nasty shopping trolley on your immaculate drive, as if to block your exit.
I just needed some cheap rusty piece of metal to serve as a gate !

Just a question, but do any of the C63's come without secondary cats? I have been under mine and there is nothing apart from the primary's....maybe the secondary cat delete has been done already but it doesnt look like anythings been replaced.

haha fantastic
Hi David
it just so happens that I heard what had to be a modded exhaust on a 205 c63. i was parked up and I hear this incredibly loud rumble and seconds later a c63 goes by in the southall / Heston area. it was so loud that by the time I set off , it was 80 yards ahead and I could hear its rumble. I was travelling in the same direction and I think we were stopped in traffic and it was 8 cars ahead and I could hear its rumble as it idled and ofcourse I could hear it loud and clear once it started moving . I have no idea what exhaust set up it had but I havent heard a v8 sound that crazy ever. it definitely is much louder than the stock exhaust whatever it is
