2018 A-Class Brand New Model - Spyshots

I was going to make the exact same point. Models are lasting less and less time. A new platform for each would be uneconomical

Which like most of the other posts saying a new platform for every model is uneconomical actually re-enforces the point I was trying to make. It's being touted as a "new" platform by Mercedes whereas the reality MFA2 is merely a stretched wheel base version of the MFA . As I said "Meet the new tub same as the old tub"- only slightly longer. :rolleyes: In the end some folks may wish to see this car as an entirely new model whereas I feel its a stretched version of the old one albeit with other improvements also. Personally I don't like the present one so if the new one retains many of its characteristics then its likely I won't like the new one either. That said there are many who like their present A class so will be delighted with the new one. :dk:

A Class is not for me - I was disappointed in the current version after ditching what was a very small on the outside but huge on the inside (and a bore to drive) for a large on the outside small on the inside tub that looked like every other manufacturers small family car, just smaller on the inside. Added to that the stupid iPod screen and when I sat in one, the complete lack of rear passenger leg room. It just threw all the good points of the old model out and added nothing to the mix.

So now they make a bigger version in 2017 which will probably be the size of the old C Class thereby needing another small car to start the Mercedes range (don't get me started on the Smart car).

I just despair at where Mercedes is going having recently read that the new E Class is available in diesel only when current thinking is the extra price of the diesel car and the extra duty on the fuel means that petrol for some is the way to go.

Mercedes haven't even addressed the issue of the new VED rules next year which means that these cars are going to cost motorists £100s more in duty for the first three years.

Rant over :thumb::D:bannana:

Do they only come in green? That's all I see everywhere
