Hi all,

Looking at potentially swapping my 911 997 C2S for a C63 AMG (anyone else gone from Porsche to AMG?)

Would really appreciate any insight from the mbclub community!

I've seen this car: https://www.motor-hub.co.uk/used-ca...t_medium=mobile-web&at_campaign=website-visit

Any thoughts?

Couple of things that jump out to me, albeit I'm uneducated in AMG.
1. 20" wheels - Aren't these supposed to be 18"? - are these likely to be aftermarket reps at a larger size?
2.Face lift - I thought that was 2019 for facelift model?
3.Re-map - I've nothing against remaps in principal, but when remapping past cars I've done a lot of research into the company and map.
4.What options does this car seem to have?

Are there any further questions I should ask the sellers? Any maintenance considerations or gotchas? Really appreciate any further thoughts!

Cheers

I'd research the dealer before the car 🥺

Motorhub have form!

Elsewhere you will find many AMGs have been 'enhanced' by owners, so 20s on there is not uncommon
Being remapped isn't either

But to Motorhubs credit, they are actually declaring it.

I still wouldn't....

I would guess the wheels are reps....
looking at alloywheelsdirect, there are some very tasty genuine forged AMG 20's available, but a correct full fitment would appear to be 19s on the front and 20s on the rear.
The other thought that springs to mind is it's Motorhub.
I'm sure others who know these cars well will be along shortly with some words of wisdom.

Welcome BTW 👍

I wouldn’t touch motorhub with a 1000ft barge pole.

Seriously - don’t even entertain it. There’s plenty of C63s out there.

oh wow, the motorhub issue is coming across loud and clear! And having looked at some online reviews I can see why! I suppose the search continues!

And FWIW the facelift version are 2019 onwards - with digital dash and the newer MBUX infotainment, and 9 speed gearbox amongst some other minor changes.

Some older prefacelift cars have the newer facelift facelift Panamericana grill fitted

Doesn’t the pre-facelift model sound better? Sure I’ve read that on here and elsewhere.

Yes, from the outside particularly.

What a lot of people don't know is they introduced fake engine noise through the speakers on the facelift to compensate for the OPF. Sounds alright but you can notice it's fake, especially when changing to the sportier modes.

If you can get the VIN number of any car you like the look of, you can then search online and get all the options fitted to that car
vindecoderz.com
other websites may also be available :)

Second this big time. I've owned a FL and currently have a pre-FL. FL has nothing in terms of sound on pre-FL. You just don't hear anything and, to my ear, the fake sound was quite noticeable. With the pre-FL it's a whole different story. That proper V8 rumble along with volume of the sound is just on another level. If tech and having 2 extra gears aren't the deal breaker, definitely go for PFL. It's more satisfying to drive. If you aren't that fussed about hearing the V8, then FL is the way to go.

Listen to how the sound "disappears" on the upshift. That was the most apparent time for me that it's all pumped into the cabin.

Not sure what your budget is, but if you'd like a clean, unmolested, low-ish miles, pre-facelift C63S, from an honest independent dealer, you could do a lot worse than considering this one:

https://www.ftcprestigecars.co.uk/u...ds-mct-euro-6-ss-4dr-amersham-202312024498058

I have no affiliation with FTC, but that is my old car (I bought my existing car from there a couple of weeks back). I owned the C63 for three and a half years so have intimate knowledge of it. The only thing is that its had the grill changed to the facelift pan-america thing, which I personally hate - but each to their own etc!

Anyway, just thought i'd put it out there!

Fabulous colour combo too

Pre fl here too and no complaints over exhaust sound!

I previously owned pre facelift, was really happy with it, still regret selling it to this day.

As far as motorhub goes, I would stay away from them. I won't say all as I haven't checked all, but majority of their cars have issues or been clocked. Been there few times in my younger days to look for cars but luckily didn't buy one.
