Hi everyone,

Just registered with the forum (1st post) trying to get support with my car trouble.

Bought the GLE in November 2024 - Not a Mercedes dealer. Had it serviced by Mercedes and have done over 10,000 miles since then. In the last six weeks the car has started to lose all throttle response whilst driving very randomly with no warning. So far I have been able to just roll to the roadside/hard shoulder and when I come to a complete stop the engine stalls. I press the stop/start button and press again to start and I can just drive off again.

No faults on dash. I booked it in to a Mercedes dealership for plug in diagnostics check giving them full details of dates and frequency and they could find nothing wrong.

Since then I’ve done over 1000 miles with it happening occasionally even going for 2 weeks without it reoccurring. Today has been bad happened at least 6 times, however something new has started to happen the car has started to judder as though the engine is stop/starting and I spotted the Diesel Engine - Preglow image flickering on and off while its juddering

I fitted a New battery this evening as it still had the original battery from new. I also did this as my Mercedes me app was telling me ‘partially charged’ after car has been parked for over a day and the other reason was I noticed the problem seemed to occur moor when I hadn’t used the car for a day or two.

After fitting the new battery I took it for a quick spin to see it occurred and it did, twice in about 2 miles and still the odd judder.

I’m scratching my head, and just can’t figure out what might be wrong…………

Any ideas theories from anyone on here would be welcome?

Based purely on your post my guess would be either cam or crank position sensor. They often only fail when hot then start fine after and on more than one occasion I've seen no fault codes straight after cutting out.....or a P030( insert cylinder number here!) to signify a miss fire... which is an after effect of sensor failure rather than being the cause. A better, Mercedes specific, code reader might find more.
