Anyone know where the correct place to wire these to is? The door controller, the centre light?

I could just find the wire coming back from the door switch, but I'd like to know where the proper place is. Could someone with WIS have a look for me?

TIA

I would put 1 wire at one end of puddle and tother at tother end and plug them into nearest lamppost and see what happens
must go now for about an hour to see leslie ashes big lips on tele

Excellent - thanks.

Inchcape want £7 plus for the pre-facelift wiring harness, which I then need to mod anyway - more crimps and "parts box" wire for that then.

I think you,ll find the loom will come back unavailable as the face-lift version is,nt available though still listed it is,nt till you try to order it that it crops up.
The face lift loom is just 2 cables approx. 2ft. long with crimps either end, light fitting approx. £1.
When i took my door panels off i located the door control unit and there were cables in 1 & 5 already, the puddle light looms were installed from the factory and were just tied up out the way with cloth loom tape, just ran them down to the bottom of the door plugging into the new light fitting. Yours too may have the looms pre-installed.(if your lucky)

Just read the original post but it seems the wiring harness isnt available any more :( Is this easily put together as a DIY?

Cheers :)

Any ideas on the part number mate? I'll order them, get them to work and then that could be added to the how-to?

Seems weird that they wouldnt put them onto the sport models?? Do they save THAT much weight?!

They were an optional extra for the W202:

Mine light up indepently from each other, eg if I open the drivers door non of the others light up - unlike my Fathers pre-facelift W210.

So fitting to the centre light fitting wouldnt do this - if you bothered?

So the mod, as shown in Shude's how to, will make them both turn on if a door's opened, even if the other's closed?

Im not too fussed as, lets be honest, they're not an integral mod :)

Would be a nice addition for a tenner and an afternoon (equal to about four KD weeks) work tho :D

I can't remember whether they turn on independently per door, but they are wired to the door control unit just like they would be on a factory option on 202, 208, 210 etc. Running all the extra wires would be silly if it can all be done within the door.

I have had the door panel off before and didn't see the wires. but if they are tucked up out the way perhaps I missed them. Will have another look to see if pins 1 and 5 are used (have ordered pins anyway).

sorry to but in guys, does the w203's have this option. Thanks
