I have just purchased a full leather interiour for my 2000 Elegance estate, have been looking for some time with no luck. The new interior is from a 98/99 220 sport, all fitted no problem the seats are really comfortable, but alas one problem they have seat heaters that I will not wire up never use them anyway. The passenger seat on the original fabric seat has what I believe to be a seat belt sensor...with 3 wires brown-white-red going into a yellow connector. the car harness going to this is brown going to brown brown/white into white yellow/black into red...

The new seat has only a 2 wire blue and white into a red connector...a different type connector.
When I noticed the difference I pulled the yellow connector apart but the srs indicator lit up.So have left the fabric seat fitted hoping someone can help with wiring :) I only assume this is to do with the seat belt the drivers seat has no such connection!!
yours hoping!!

Hi,

When I changed the seats in mine I found that I needed to change the inside of the passenger seat base as well. This is where the occupation sensor is. On mine the sensor consisted of an electrical element ( similar to a heated rear window element ) that was positioned under the seat cover but above the seat base. There was a cut out in the seat base for a connection box that the 3 wired yellow connector went to. I chose to change the seat base because the "new" passenger seat that I was fitting did not have the cutout in the seat base for the connection box and the upper surface of the seatbase had a different pattern of indentations (although, to be honest, I couldn't see that this was going to be too much of a problem, but not knowing how resiliant the occupation sensor was I thought I'd better try and fit the original seat base) . Changing bases was not difficult, just time consuming. You'll need to strip the seat down to do it though as you need to remove the backrest from the base to get the base cover off.

Best of luck,
Andy

Hi,Thanks for the reply, the c220 sports seat base is larger than the old c200 so changing the base I dont think is an option.

seat problem

YesterdayI bit the bullet and changed the occupancy element in my seat, was different had to cut out a small section of seat base but not a problem....Was certainly time consuming and fiddly but is possible without removing the backrest, just remove some plastic trim recline seat sit on it and it unclips easily.A local indi tells me they do this with the seat in situ mine had to come out anyway...It all works fine so have a spare facelift 202 220 sport seat element up for grabs...
