Mercedes c200 coupe
Hey guys!

Currently in the process of buying my new car. Came across these two beauties for the same price of around £48,000! Both 2021 ex-demonstrators registered July 2021 with very few miles on the clock, both premium plus AMG line night edition, and both have the same 2L 4 cylinder engine producing just over 250 bhp in addition to eco boost.

1- Polar white E300 Coupe with black and red interior, same specs as the c class but with a bigger touch screen with the new MBUX, nappy leather seats, air balance package, energising comfort, and adaptive suspension.

2- Selenite grey C300 Coupe with red artico leather interior.

I absolutely love the exterior of the c-class, but the interior of the e-class is from another planet!

I have taken them both on a test drive, the c-class is fast, dynamic, but much stiffer, noisier and no where near as comfortable (maybe the RF tyres and the big alloys). The E-class is completely silent, feels amazing to drive, slightly heavier and more sluggish on sports plus, but comfort levels are on a completely different level.

Practicality doesn’t really matter much to me as it’s only me and my wife that get in the car. I know someone will mention going for an older AMG at that price, but I’m not very fussed about driving performance cars around our “amazing” UK roads.

What do you guys think? And if you had to make the choice which would you choose?

And any ideas about the future of these two cars? Will there be a new one coming out soon that makes this look old? Or will they be replaced by the CLE Coupe (rumours)?

Many thanks in advance.
Ali

I would always go E over C if you can , slightly bigger , probably cost more originally .
Cheers mate, that’s what I was thinking to be honest. Why pay the same for less of a car? The 2021 c class looks exactly like my 68 Reg c200 coupe as well.

I‘ve got a 2019 E350 convertible…before buying it I drove a C300 convertible, a C43 Coupe and an E300 Coupe. The E felt to me like a far nice car. Though the C43 performance was fun I figured that since a 4 seat convertible is never going to really be a performance car more than 300bhp, while nice, wasn’t necessary. Also there is no E43, just an E53 which was (is?) 4matic, and I preferred the feel of the rwd cars. Though I have to say I struggle to tell an E from a C coupe or convertible at first glance in certain colours. Saw my first E Coupe in emerald green yesterday though; absolutely stunning!

There is no doubt the e-class I test drove was phenomenal. For some reason I prefer the exterior look of the c-class but I don’t think it’s worth the compromise in ride quality.

Oh if I could choose I’d definitely choose emerald green! Stunning colour!

The E is the better car... yes the C will be more agile as it's lighter and smaller, but if you're after a sporty coupe, and not a performance car as such, it will be the E.

For me I would not put down nearly £50k on a 2 litre 4 pot, I mean that just sounds crazy to me o_O

I'm sure you could get an E400 / E450 for that much which imo is better than both.

Definitely the E.

In terms of which will get dated sooner, the "A" shaped nose shown on the E pictured is the new look. The "V" shaped nose on the C is the older look and will look dated sooner.

Thank you very much!

Any other suggestions for that price?
For me personally I would go for either the e63 or the e53.. £50k would get you low mileage in either model..

It’s a shame there’s no E63 Coupe. You can chase the body shape OR the engine.

Depends on what low mileage is for you.

Find me a face lift E53 premium plus in Grey, Black or White <20,000 miles for the price of a brand new full spec E300 (including running costs of petrol, tax and insurance) and I’ll buy it today.

If I still lived in Dubai I would get the C63S again, where there is no road tax, fuel is 5 times cheaper than here, motorways with speed limits of 100-120 mph, and insurance as cheap as pennies, but what sounds really crazy to me is paying thousands more just on petrol, insurance and tax to drive on our bumpy busy 30 mile roads behind a tractor or a Fiat 500 just so I can enjoy 5 seconds of an adrenaline rush when I overtake or so I can over-rev the boy racer in his blacked out corsa. 🤣
