Hi, I am an ameteur on this site so tell me if I am in wrong section. I have a 210 that drifts left now so looking for advice on how to test if there is a problem and what cure might be. I have been to protyre who suggested camber bolts, I had these fitted (some say bad idea), and wheels aligned again, teice in fact - it appears to be within tolerances.

I also had a rear n/s blowout recently so advised by Mercedes garage to fit extra load (stronger tyre wall) Continental, the others 3 tyres are all Michelin 215/55/R16 non extra load.

So where do I start please? Are mixed tyres OK? Should I go to Mercedes for wheel aligment and adjust? Are camber bolts bad move?

Thanks

If all four wheels are in tolerance ad there is no thrust angle then the car should track straight.
Do you have the readings from the setup.?

The car will tend to follow the camber, are you sure it's not just that.?

The tolerance isn't the issue, it's the "stagger"... Either the front camber/ castor or both in extreme cases needs to be off-set so that the angles forces are to the right.

The adjuster bolts only give around 20' adjustment so it's quite possible another angles position would need to be sacrificed in order to gain the correct geometric balance.

If you could post the report i could identify the criminal for you.

Had my 210 4 wheel tracked by wim a few months ago due to abnormal tyre wear and whilst up on the ramp at work yesterday noticed all tyres are wearing perfectly true and square, even foreman was looking all over them as he wants his vectra done.

Also drives much better.

Hi, Sorry for delay after your prompt reply - just got last 2 sets of Protyre Wheel Aligment readings scanned to pdf - what is best way to share those so you can advise if you see a problem?
Thanks again.

Thanks

Hi, DOH - could not see how to attach at first - have now attached two previous wheel alignment reports - any advice on whether serious issue or how to get proper aligmnet done (Mercedes dealer best option?) appreciated.
Chris.

Chris.

None of them are any good because they haven't measured the castor angle, this is vital if the car has pulling/ wear problems.

Mine was pulling left and destroying fornt tyres despite the apparent all clear on alignment. New castor bolts later and the car is transformed

MIcheldever Tyres....

Just out of interest - what wheels do you have on the car? and where was the wear on the tyres

just thinking there perhaps could be 'common' alignment problem areas dependent on model/wheel/tyre etc- something to look out for - with common fixes?

Prob NOT but any thoughts WIM?

Wear was on the insides

Those alighment reports are from June/July last year - how's tyre wear been since then? Info might help diagnosis.

Some pics showing the inside wear on my front tyres - now on Falken 452's

Interesting that quite e few posters have wear on the inside fronts - seems fairly common.

My wheels are 17" AMG II Mono - i think with common F/R offsets
Front Tyres below were 245/45/17 - Linglong L688:eek:
Rear Tyres were/are 225/50/17 - Fedaral Supersteel 595 (even wear with good tread remaining)
Both front wheels were damaged about 6 months ago but dont think this was the only or main contribtor to the wear above.

i do plan to get a four-wheel alingment done - soon after i get my other stuff/springs etc., done  - will post up results when availble:)

Hi, Yes the reports I posted are little dated, I still experienced some pull to left after that so had an independent chap from Supertrack (prob local only to Bristol) come and do check/adjust, seems better but no report to show for that.

The wear originally was inside of front tyres. I had Camber bolts fitted at Protyres suggestion, then realigned by Protyre, then Supertrack. Better but still feel it is not same as year or so ago.

Thanks to puncture o/s/r I now have 1 x Conti extra load and Michelin (Pilot) on same axle, not sure if this is bad idea or not. Merc dealer fitted Conti.

Where do I go to get 'proper' 4 wheel aligmnet/adjust? Merc dealer?
Thanks
