possibly going to start looking for a 211 E55 in the near future, but was wondering which options were availible and must haves?

these are on my list already and some questions!, any others anyone can think of?

- pana roof (a must) - do these come with solar panels as standard?
- command - easy to retro-fit afterwards?
- parktoronic
- whats linguatronic?

what else?

Panoramic roof is a must!!
Solar panals are an option, Ive got them on my w211 but dont really see a need for them.
COMAND is not an easy retro fit unless you have a APS50 already installed. You'll find most E55's have one or the other. I think APS50 may have been standard?
Parktronic, again most e55's should have it.
Linguatronic, voice commands, I wouldnt be too fussed either way.

I know some folk rate Linguatronic, but I found it as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Panoramic roofs can be troublesome, but Parktronic and Comand would be essentials for me.

Dynamic seats are awesome, keyless go is nice but easy to live without.

HK sound system sounds supurb.

the good thing is im in no rush, so ive got time to be fussy!, whats the chances of getting one with all of the above?

this ones missing command, and pref id like a 2005 model

what do you guys think?

You can be fussy and get all of the above but you might have to wait a while.
Theres alot in silver but not many good spec ones in black with low mileage.

Took me 8 months to find mine

don't like the chav wheels

nor do i, but the advert says he still has the originals!

nice one, i will prob go for silver, just to avoid clashing with you ans Andy_cyp ;), but black or silver would be good, like i said, no rush so have time to look for a fully spec`d one.

just need to know what was avail on them as options.

nope the cables break and its exBENZive..

I never knew about that. The only thing ive heard people complain about is the noise. I bet the roof has to be removed to replace the cables?

im not sure, weve never taken it on at our place but i know its listed as over a full days labour..

Its the same as W203's.. the ropes are made of plastic and so stretch or break in time.

Mercedes dont sell the cables by themselves (making it ££££) but there was a very good post on here a while back where the bloke had gone to the manufacturer of the roof and got some cable directly from them...

You forgot "Scorcher" who has a black one as well.
I wouldnt get an AMG car if it wasnt black or silver.

The W211 has so many electrics in it and its a big jump in terms of complexity in the car. Try get as many options as you can, but I am thinking the more options the more that can go wrong with it.
I have been lucky so far with mine touch wood and I hope it stays that way.

I know all about that one... my "Audio Gateway" broke and was £1K to replace! Then the pump for the Dynamic Seats went, another £1K, then the antenna (for the nav), only £75.... starter motor, ignition cables etc etc... all in all, repairs costs me about £5.5K

But once all done, worked ok.
