212 2011 Comand Map version 7

Was not too pleased with Comand map currency in my new (Aug 2011) 212 - on checking, it was version 4. Dealer just upgraded to version 7. This includes 7 digit postcode and is much better. Since most new cars come with 3 yrs free updates, it's probably worth checking version and booking in if backlevel.

Slightly disappointed to find out my car was made just on the cusp of the cutover to the NTG4.5 Comand (presume mine is NTG4?) - built 06/11. I guess an upgrade to 4.5 would be prohibitive cost?

Broadly speaking, yes (unless you have a very fat wallet).

You must have NTG4.5. Comand NTG4 doesnt support 7 digit postcode and V10 is the latest for NTG4.

How can you tell what your version number is?

I figured 4.5 is the latest version, but mine does not support SMS whereas the latest one does. The MB phone support web page distinguishes between 212's built up till June last year, and cars built after.

I loaned an '11 B class while mine was in the dealers which did throw up SMS txt messages received on my Blackberry.

But to vish6000's question.. can anyone confirm how one finds out the version of comand fitted? What version is the new Comand Online?
