Hi, I got the regular MB rim with 215/55/16 tires on them, could I fit 225/55/16 tires on them? Or it'll be too wide?
Cheers :)

The width 225 will be fine, but the profile 55 is too big.

The profile details the height of the tyre side wall and is a percentage of the width.

So, a 215/55, has a tyre wall 55% of 215.

Thus a 225/55 has a wall 55% of 225...thus 5.5mm higher than specified.

Hi R12,
how about 225/45/ 16?
Any good?
I know, I am no good at this...
Cheers ;)

Humm, look like 225/ 50 is OK ish. Not the same but only a minor difference. But I am useless at that, then I might be wrong... 1 cm difference???
I look at it later...

Hi R12,
When I use the animation comparaison, I found 225/ 55 are 12 mm highter, not 5.5mm...?
see picture.
if I do 225 / 50 its lower... 10 mm
If I do 225/ 45 the tire is smaller by 34mm...

Is 10mm way off the lmit? Or what is the limit?
Sorry but its doing me poor head :wallbash: :p
Thank you :)

The percentage aspect ratio measurment result is the distance from the rim edge to the outer edge of the tyre.

Over the full diameter of the wheel & Tyre (Total Height) that measurement is doubled as you've not accounted for the other side of the wheel! ;)

5.5 x 2 = 11

Rounding down will account for the other 1mm in the online programme results.

Hey, me again, and with the same question...
I got some rim, rucha, woohoo!!! But they have the 225/55/16 tires on them... Bugger!
Now, at the moment I got 2X 225 at the front, and 2X 215 at the back... as they are all like new and as 1X225 is worned, I don't want to put a 215 and a 225 on the same axle...
The only difference is that the car is slightly highter at the front now, from the link send out by R12, its about 5mm highter...Feel a wee bigger tho?
Now, I know they are not the size that was on the car originally, but what would this small difference make?
would the car speedogo faster/ slower? The hadling different?
The handing seems to be the same so far tho.
Now I might sell the tires and got 2 other one with 215, or got 2 other 225 as the 225 at the front are like new and the 215 would be sightly worned...
Those rim were also fitted on a E300TD like ine, this is why I got them.
Then is it that bad to get only an extra mm? Or not?
The tires( 225) are accelera alpha and seems OK so far? Anyone had any experience with those? The third one is Rotalla F105, didn't get the best reviews on this one ...
Thank you :)
Olivier

Put the 225s on the back and you should be fine.

Oh, can I do that? Put the 225 at the rear and the 215 at the front? That would be great :)
Thank you
