230 CLK wont start. Engine doesnt engage

I have a 13 year old 230 CLK avant garde. The key turns in the ignition and the dashboard lights etc illuminate. The engine management system says no malfunction but the engine wont turn over I am just getting a click. Is it possible it is the key? The battery is two years old and I'm sure it is fully charged.
Any ideas gratefully received.

I'd try jump start from another car before I did anything else

Faulty starter motor is most likely assuming the battery is fully charged.

Do these models have a traditional starter motor? Am thinking as its not got an old fashioned key would it still be the same.

Could it be that the starter motor is stuck, my idea may seem a little rough but if you can reach it try to give it a real hard tap with a long bar or even a hammer.

It worked in the old days ........
