Hi all, please help, I've had this car for many months with this problem gradually getting worse and it's doing my head in! The symptoms are; at 60mph it runs out of power, but, then just for a few seconds it will come to back life! So far I have replaced the plugs, all leads, dizzy cap and rotor, fuel filter, air filter, also a new coil has been tried, the fuel pressure has been tested, all vacuum pipes have been checked with no leaks and we have checked and adjusted the co which did appear to help a bit, but really only masked the problem. Any ideas or similar experiences?

Faulty EZL UNIT ( transistorised ignition unit) They are heat sinked on to the wing. In time the heat sink compound dries out allowing the unit to run hot and develop faults. The bad news is that they are very expensive to replace. Best try a breaker for a good replacement.
