I’m thinking of going to the 24h Nurburgring race this year. I’ve left it too late for Le Mans 24h but for now at least Nürburgring 24h may still be an option.

Has anyone been, and can you share any tips on the best vantage points, parking, hotels, etc please?

Watching with interest as I’d be interested in going too.

Yes, went in 2020 I think it was, we were staying on the Mosel for the week anyway so spent the day at the 24 hr Nürburgring, don't worry about parking its all arranged and you will have to book it usually, it gets a bit busy as you can imagine.

We managed to blag our way into the Mercedes VIP Grand Stand at the end of the start /Finnish straight which gives you a good view across a lot of the initial corners. We weren't supposed to be in there but as usual if you stroll up looking confident enough and as if you should be there they quite often don't challenge you.

However you can walk around lots of the circuit for different views without any great problems. A good day out in general lots going o.

Enjoy.

The pic is from google earth I can't find my pics for some reason.

Just over the hills from there is Spa.
I've done that race a number of times, but always working never to spectate.
The Spa race is in even more beautiful surroundings (IMHO) and is a rather more professional affair than the Nurburgring 24. Less cars, but a better quality entry.
I was there once when they actually stopped the race (The King died!) but I'm sure that was a very rare event. Getting to watch a racecar committed to Eau Rouge is almost worth the trip on it's own:)

I did a full track day at spa in my first cobra, since then I've never understood how anyone can go full tilt up L'eau Rouge! The amount of crashed cars at the top was an indication of how often drivers got it wrong!

It's called downforce! Directly opposes the lift you get when cresting the rise!
Oh! and a good car, a brave and skilful driver and a fair bit of bottle!

I had the good car, but none of the other things you mentioned! 😱

I've been to Spa twice for the F1 and can concur with these comments. In fact, the second time I went, during the first Porsche Super Cup support race, I saw three cars exit Raidillon off the top of Eau Rouge on lap 1, with one of the outside cars on its roof, travelling at the same speed as everyone else, for a while anyway :D

The trip, the track and the experience worth every penny in my book.

Not yet decided what to do regarding a 24h race but today I have booked to go to the BTCC races at Donington, which I think may be the start of the 2024 season.

I believe that there will be three BTCC rounds on one day so plenty of potential for some exciting racing. I’ve not watched BTCC in person for 20 years!

I’ve even managed to blag some hospitality with Radical Motorsport so no need to walk aimlessly around working out which catering van/trailer looks least unhygienic! 😁

Early 90's to mid 2000's were our period of going to BTCC meetings, mainly Brands ( it nearly always rained) and Thruxton ( got sunburned......twice), but also Silverstone and once Knockhill.
Some truly great racing and fabulous support races, our favourite being the TVR Tuscan Challenge mainly due to the stupid amount of noise 30 TVR's made.

Thruxton was great for BTCC (and sun burn) back in the day.

Croft Circuit is only a few miles down the road from me so I tend to go to the BTCC there, its usually a great day, I love the circuit one of my favourites when I was racing.
