HI ALL ADVICE PLEASE/ driving back from cornwall today following happened= engine went into limp mode clouds of smoke. stopped car restarted engine drove fine 200 miles later same again restert all ok,,, got the following fault codes =inlet port shutoff...charge pressure control.... hot film maf sensor... all three said STORED BUT NOT PRESENT... anything to do with these please anybody many thanks

Something like that happened to my 220 cdi once - grey smoke at times and the car would loose power but then be ok again. It was a leaking oil seperator in front of the engine. The oil leaked in the intake hence black smoke and caused false readings in the intake sensors. Changing it cured the problem.

hi uhayat thanks very much for your input il look at that:thumb:

You need to establish whether the inlet port motor has failed, the linkage has come away, or the manifold flaps are breaking up. One or more of these may have caused the other faults downstream.

It may be none of these but until you are plugged in to a computer with somebody who can diagnose and not just read a computer, you will be shooting in the dark.
