Graeme Hunt - 1991 Mercedes Benz 500SE 28.000 Miles

I have seen the car .. was actually drooling over the Ferarri Dino ..

It is in superb condition -- the paintwork is pretty much immaculate, and the interior is also pretty much "as new".

No idea about about the oily bits etc as I did not drive it.

Nice looking car..but is the bonnet slightly open or is it badly adjusted?

I'd love that, even though in an ideal world it would have either a Black or Cranberry coloured interior (yes, Im a Tart ). I wonder wether hed give me 5 grand for my coupe in part ex!, or take an offer! gotta be a great car assuming its had regular runs out and servicing.

I spent some time talking to the dealer .. nice man, a bit 'posh'.

I think they will take offers, they have had it a while, and the need to move it on.

Anyway, they can only say no

Ridiculous price. The most anyone has dared to ask for a 500 SE in three years of MB Club Gazette small ads is £5995, for a 1990 with undeclared mileage. A 560 SE was listed at £7500, and that is a rare beast (unless I've made a typo when recording it).

Bonnet and boot shutlines don't look right.

28k in 18 years, 1560 miles a year on average . . . hum.

I have no feel for 500SE prices but I did think it was vastly overpriced ..

After all, they operate from a small mews in Kensington, one of the most expensive areas in London, and therefore the UK

Where they operate from has no bearing on the value of the car.

Thats good info to have, and on reflection, I doubt very much the car owes them even £5000 as the trade in it is. But then I guess the sort of clientele they may attract, given the area, they have as much chance of a non-price sensistive impulse buyer as anyone. I am tempted but (as discussed before on this car) the low mileage might lead one to use is sparingly to preserve one of the facets (low mileage) that makes this car special.

Crammy, If you're interested in a W126, there's a dealer in Bucks who currently has not one but two 560 SEL's for sale. Both are 1990 G platers with rather more miles than the car which started this thread! One has 149k on the clock and the dealer is asking 5,995 and the other has 68k & the asking price is 10,995. No idea what condition they're in, but the link is here.
