Having now resigned myself to purchasing a clk cab in the not too distant future i'm now trying to juggle my insurance...

I've got 5 years no claims which is currently deployed on another fairly high group car (circa 16), and i want to use this car as the shopping / clock up daft business miles car....

Obviously I need to insure the cab, I've been quoted about 900 by my current insurer..bell direct..

Anyone know of any companies that either allow my ncb on a 2nd car as well as my primary or a company that specialises in such matters?

In the past, all insurance companies have told me that no claims can only be used on one car at a time. Seems a bit unfair so I'd be interested if you find anyone who'll do two cars...

Belldirect to give them their dues have said they will honour my ncb on the 2nd car as i am an exisiting customer of theirs......But not a protected NCB....

Your very lucky Mark.

Since buying my E220 I've had to transfer the NCB to my new Merc. I am now looking for another second car. I P/x my 1st car....come to think of it i should have used that as the second runabout and maybe insurance company would have been a bit sympathetic. The only car I can justify having as a 2nd runabout now is a group 4....the likes of H Civic 1.4, Yaris , A Class. I would rather have a Rav4, CRV but a quote of 1500 is just a bit exessive. May have to resign to the little bugs for 450 quid compromise unless anyone else has any other ideas.

Aon Private Clients may be able to get you something. Not the very cheapest but you only get what you pay for and cheap insurance usually has a cheap attitude to the insured built into it somewhere!

They sorted me out anyway so that my full NCB covers both cars (group 16 & 17 respectively) and it is protected for claims on each car, not counting up any claims on both.

Call them on 01483 706000 & see what can be done. Obviously depends on personal circumstances and how the underwriter is feeling on the day

Glad you got it sorted Satch.

There's loads of companies who will insure 2 or a private 'family fleet' of cars under 1 policy and keeping all NCB, etc, etc ....

Hi,

I asked the same question on another forum, as I have a 230TE, Land Rover SIII, Focus and Triumph Spitfire. I was pointed towards:

RH Specialist Car Division,
Freepost,
Library House,
New Road,
Brentwood,
Essex,
CM14 4ZP

Tel. 01277 206911

I have not called them yet so cannot comment, but pass on the information.

I think you'll find Elephant will give big discounts on a 2nd car if they are both insured with them.

i know norwich union direct do it

thanks, i tried aon but no one was about to help so told to call them back, tried a few others, get rather funny explanations about why you cant have ncb on two cars...

Current insurer has offered me fully comp on a 30k clk 230 cab with tracker for 800 wtih 10k miles a year....

Comments?

If u can get NCD on both cars that a good deal. I paid 1100 via nationwide with 0NCD. I'm now thinking of another grp 10 vehicle and the quote is around 800 for 2nd car fully comp. Thats 2K for insurance...since I have no NCD. belldirect was cheaper but may try others to compare.

There's plenty of companies that will allow you to use your NCD on 2+ vehicles - the idea being that you could only drive 1 at any 1 time.

Do a search on PistonHeads. There's plenty of discussions and advice around this topic.
