Just a brief reminder that there is due to be a rise in fuel duty on 1 April - 2p per litre.

Anyone else noticed fuel price reduced over the last few days?

I paid 96.7p for diesel today so the extra 2p is still cheaper than last week.

Conspiracy theory anyone?

Only 2p , we got a 8c rise in duty in October , and where probably going to get more now in April . The goverment must reckon that a 70% cut of petrol prices is not enugh

Don't expect any price reductions to last, Crude is on the way back up again. It's gone from $36 to $48.

Aye, I've been watching it creep back up over the last couple of weeks. Does anyone know what's causing it?

It's due to the crude drop to $38 about 3 weeks ago now just filtering through to the pumps. As DM points out now gone back up and is $49 a barrel today, prepare for the increases.

Isnt this an April fools? I thought after Oct's hidden increase (next to the fall in VAT) we wouldnt get any more for a while.

Stamps and prescription charges are also going up at the start of April

Production has been cut by the oil producers to inflate the price.

Not quite right. the OPEC cuts were put in placeas there is/was a huge overproduction whereby there was an average of 330,000 BPD overstock at Cushing,Olklahoma. This also with oil speculators who have been hiring super tankers to hoard crude so they can get the price low to buy more then when its high they make a fast buck or Million, its called a Contango where the spot price is less than the future contract price,or thereverse situation.

Two other things that have pushed up the Crude price is gold turne down slightly so the speculators have been hedging and buying Oil,the other is the US $ has weakened against Sterling & WTi Sweet in in $

So on Sunday 15th just gone OPEC had a meeting & decided that ther cuts of 4.2 million BPD was sufficient & did not want to destabilise any recovery of the economys by increasing the Oil price(Pity Gordon has not taken a leaf from there book)however if this does not buck the price of Crude by May there will be drastic action from the OPEC council.

I think it's a good idea. we (the government of UK PLC) need some more money to pay for all those who don't directly pay into the coffers but live and work in harmony amongst us. how can they really have a decent standard of life is all we ever do is say we don't want to pay out our money to these worthy causes.

Oh

and

The "other lot" commissioned a survey just before THEY brought the fuel escalator into being. The survey revealed to them that they would have to charge £11 a gallon before people's driving habits altered dramatically.
So all these small increments they know (all of them) that we may jump up & down but we will stand for it.

can i say i am too tall to work and that it is a genetic disorder?maybe i can then stay at home watching TV and not need to pay for the fuel increase to go to work. If everyone claims something where does the money come from?

i doubt if it will make any difference to the drivers though.
At least summer is coming so i can always take the bus. but i think this one is more or less dictated by OPEC trying to raise some money for itself. basically it may boil doewn to the demand and if too many people tell the oil barons to clear off, like last year, then who knows?
