Amg a35
just got 2 small dents/ chips on my new a35 from a stone from a lorry would a smart repair be able to do this or is it a whole bonnet job, they are small.

Chips away or auto restore can localise the area.

How bad is it? Post a pic. If it’s not that bad just live with it as it’s bound to happen again unfortunately.

Is ther paint damage?

If not, then it should be an easy fix - Google Paintless Dent Removal (PDR).

As said, and easy enough thing to get sorted.

Either PDR or smart repair, a decent one will do a great job :)

Paint missing yes and little dented!

Were you going the same direction or opposite directions? Depending on your answer, it could help prevent it happen again or you might have to get used to it!:).

If you take it to a body shop they will simply want to respray the panel.

If the paint damage is very small. My suggestion is this;

1. Take the car to a PDR specialist, see for example:

2. Then buy a Chipex kit, or take the car to a Chipex franchise, e.g.:

Trouble with the dents are they are only as big as the chips, it has just pushed into the body work so it you look in the light you can see dents with the chip on top, definitely dents and not just the chip , have been told only way would be to fill them and then paint??

Contact auto restore - they’ll do it all in one for around £200-300

No way 'fill them up' - that's a cheap and nasty shortcut.

Get a PDR specialist to shape the panel back into it's original form. It takes time, but well worth it. I had quite a few 'supermarket dings' repaired successfully this way. Once the metal is flat again, apply chip repair.

A respray will make it look like new.
PDR (if there are actual dents) & chip repair will be cheaper. however, you will still see the chips (depends a lot on paint colour).

Unfortunately chips seem to be inevitable - I keep good following distances but have picked up 2 tiny chips (2 separate events) from traffic going in the opposite direction.

I've repaired them with matching colour (plain white & probably the easiest) and although I'd have to point them out to other people they are still visible.

There is a lot of discussion about protective films etc and my choice is to live with the chips and eventually get a respray (if needed) but to be honest I've never owned a car that got that bad.

Get it all done from someone who can repair the dent and do the respray at the same time. It’ll save you time, hassle and money.
As above I wouldn’t recommend the self restore (chipex) if you’re getting the dent removed anyway and if it’s big enough for you to worry about. Those kits are decent for very small touch ups only.

I had a mark on my GTR done by AutoRestore. Everyone on the GTR forum complained it was really hard to match that grey colour but they did a great job and no one has ever noticed.

You can see how they localised the area. Also they fix any dents as I got my a5 done as well with had a large dent in the rear of the car.
