3 Star Bonnet Emblem on R129

I rather like the Spring Mounted Mercedes Emblem on the bonnet of my W126 and wonder whether I can retro fit the same to my R129

It's doable, but it looks dreadful.

That said, on yours it might go unnoticed

The 129 has a flat bonnet ornament and a large recess for it. The upright ornament is a smaller recess and requires a hole through the bonnet in order to mount.

Was there ever a cross-over model back then that could have either? Some kind of SEC vs SEL thing?
