3 weeks into ownership problems!

Just got the car back. The roof is working but in all honest I am very disappointed in a cosmetic repair that's been done. The middle section between has a bit of damage to they said the interior specialist will repair it for me. I agree.

My sister has just got into the back seat and said the middle section it really lose and was all sticky. I got a wet microfibre cloth out to wipe it and all this black stuff has just come off. Leaving the centre console all mismatch.

What should I do? Any recommendations are welcome.

Is the centre section replaceable?

^ Take it back along with the cloth and show them what you found. They need to fix this properly.

I intend on doing this first thing! I think the quality is disgusting. Anyone with a c class coupe, does that centre console move excessively??

Did you use only a dry or water wet micro.

That picture suggests to me that a solvent based product has been on that trim. This could be from

  • the Tech that worked on the car
  • have you used a car interior cleaner
  • was the cloth impregnated
Sorry to hear of your woes.

The seat was very sticky so I used a wet microfibre with a little bit of interior cleaner that i have.

The finished on the centre console now looks like it's glass fibre or something, not the soft touch leather like material is should be and was before the repair.

Does that interior cleaner contain a solvent? It doesn't excuse the repair but might explain why the black rubbed off.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the interior cleaner has reacted with the trim covering.

Guess how I know

"Try a test patch before using this product " :wallbash:

MBoys relax - I did it on a Volvo.

I'll have a check if it does, but either way you can tell straight away the repair is horrible for a £17,500 car! This is what you'd expect to see in a £2000 car.

Another small gripe is i had a winning scratch card in the car which has been taken. Not much but it's still a bit appalling that it's been taken.

Wasn't a £1m scratch card was it? Bad form taking it whatever.

Haha. Not quite, only a tenner but that would have got me a nice breakfast before work one day! I think unless that centre console is replaced with a new one, the car will go back. Would they have got rid of my part exchange by now? Or do they keep them for a certain amount of time. If this seat was repaired nicely then I could enjoy the car. It's a shame really.

Does anyone know if it can be replaced? Or is it fixed?

Really wanting this car made perfect. Hopefully they can order me the part.

I emailed the dealer principle and sale manager last night with pics and stated I'll be in today. Just been to see them and they were shocked to see the job and have offered to order a new centre console and replace it for me.

^ You have decent dealer then. They have responded correctly and will hopefully complete the repair to your satisfaction.

They have been quite good in dealing with the car. But now the heater fans are whistling a lot when on. Is this normal?

Are the flaps fully open?

All the vents are fully open, it seems to do it more when heat is on and not cold? Unless the fans making more noise blowing out air when cold drowns out the whistle?

I had this when I had my W204 immediately after the Combination Filter had been changed. Turned out to be leaf debris that had got trapped between the filter and the housing!

Maybe worth a look?

The car now needs a new heater motor [emoji30] this is getting annoying!

In less than two months:

- New panoramic roof motor, new wiring, guides
- New rear centre console
- And now the new heater motor!

If it's any concellation I had the following issues when I bought mine:-

Squeeking drivers side seat belt = trim adjustment to cure problem
Loss of cooling fluid = new radiator due to manufacturing defect
Corroded centre wheel caps = all renewed
Creaking drivers arm rest on door = new door card fitted
Vibrating n/s door mirror = new mirror, motor and casing
Jerking gearbox when cold = software upgrade uploaded for gearbox

Look at it this way adleast the issues are during the warranty period.

Also I did have a few creaks around the dash board area especially during hot days. A member here had used silicon spray to cure them, I tried this and yes it all quiet now.

Worth noting in case you get this.
