3 years free Comand update

Just bought a 2 year old C class coupe and the previous owner hasn't had the Comand maps updated. Can I just book it into my local MB dealer for an update or will they only do it at service time?

They prefer to do it at service time, but MBUK's policy is that it can be done at the customer's request.

Thanks. I need to see if they'll swap the rusty wheel bolts under warranty so they can do it at the same time.

They'll normally swap rusty wheel bolts. Always helpful to have a list of "required rectification works" when booking the car in for warranty work

I've just had a reply from one of the specialists that Vs 8 s current, but Vs 10 may be available at some dealerships.

Mine prefers the car be booked in separately as it takes up space in the normal bays.

I generally drop mine off in morning and collect at lunch time.

That said not had my latest car updated yet.

For my 2014 GLA the latest map version Europe 2017/2018 V16.0 which is on my paperwork from the 4th August 2017... along with a license key number and dvd object number which I think is for model type of Mercedes.. Had this done on 3 year service visit two days before the 3 year warranty ran out, luckily they had a disc but said if it was next week after warranty I would have to pay for installation, so plan ahead with your dealer...

It varies and depends on the version of COMAND you have in your car:

Also be aware that not all MB cars come with COMAND as standard, on the lower and midrange models COMAND was an option - so check that you actually have COMAND before buying maps DVD for it.

Even if the car has built-in SatNav, it might be Becker Map Pilot or Garmin Map Pilot which will have different updates to COMAND.

Also, keep in mind that COMAND map updates are free for the first 3 years, so check the car's registration date before paying for the update.

...if you car has COMAND Online NTG4.5, and it is more than 3 years old, then the latest maps DVD for it is 2017/2018 v16.0 P/N A1728275200*. But you will also need to purchase a PIN code separately from MB.

Just had mine updated to V16 as less than 3 years old. Have seen that Mercedes are doing updates for cars over 3 years for £99.

Beware that £99 offer is just for the DVD, if you require a license pin or the stealer to do it, they'll demand their hands greased or your credit card relieved further.

I bought the genuine discs from Command Online and did it myself. Quite straightforward!

Is this NTG4.5? If so then v16 only came out a couple of months ago. They seem to be released around once a year... so unlikely there will be a new version between now and November.

Yep its NTG 4.7. I'll have to keep in touch with my dealer right until the day my warranty ends
