Hi. I have recently bought a 1991 300TE. I was pulling out of a junction when suddenly there was a bang and I lost all drive and coasted to a halt. The engine is fine but there is a grinding noise when it is in park. The speedo still works when I rev the engine in drive. But....I have no drive at all.

Can anyone help? I bought the car as my saab blew it's turbo so now I've got 2 broken cars

ps - I bought the car as I'd had a 230TE a couple of years ago and loved it!

Absolutely correct. Thank you. A mate just came over, we jacked it up and he found the problem straight away. Do you know of any independant MB specialists in berkshire where I might get one from

Does the car have ASD or not ? There will be a warning triangle in the middle of the speedometer if it does .

I mention it because the diff and the driveshafts are different .

Eurocarparts are listing driveshafts for that vehicle at £46.52 ( which seems cheap to me ) , I suspect an MB dealer would want more . Fitting is not that big a job .

Ian Wright at Star Motors in Caversham will be able to help you. I, and several other people on the forum, have used them for 10+ years.
