This whole Sportline thing on the later models is a red herring - there was no "Sportline" version as such most of it was standard (i.e. all the cars were the same not that there wasn't an options list). Indeed it seems it is the lower spec. cars that became the odd ones out. This explains it for the earlier ones: -

"Sportline code 953 involves ride height lowered by 22mm, and stiffer suspension with different springs, anti-roll bars and dampers, to reduce roll.

I can't remember who but a fellow member had an early coupe with 953 and found it much harsher than his later car with 650.

Nice, our 500E was the same at the back...im sure all 500E's were...except for a small number of those that were made like the normal W124's from factory.
