The hydraulics , pump and pistons for the automatic soft top are still functioning , but are leeking oil into the boot-well and the system needs constant topping up with oil to function . My mechanic ( not actual expert on merc roofs) says he needs to order/replace with all new parts and at great expense ( more than car cost ) . Has or Does anyone refurburbish the seals on the pump and/or pistons etc.????

If your location is Hong Kong I would be looking worldwide myself for replacement parts. Dont rely on a third party source them yourself. Particularly look in the USA where parts for mercs seem to be available cheaper?? Or maybe shipping direct from Germany. These are part nos/prices from a post dated 2004. Poster said his LEAK problems were due to bending of the hydraulic cylinders probably due to maladjustment of the roof mechanism.
1248000272 Cylinder for drivers side - $220.00 US
1248000772 Cylinder for passenger side - $370.00 US

edit:- assuming this is for an A124 SERIES CAR?

online ordering of MB parts from uk http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/default.aspx
lists 1248000272 at £172-10+vat
1248000772 at £306-59+vat
international delivery cost by arrangement.

Thanks Graeme , you wouldn't know the pump part no would you , as that is the really pricy one, I think. I am still hopeful on refurb issue ( especially if it is the pump that is faulty. I am checking actual source of all leaks in next few days .

Recent Mercedes hydraulics are made by a company called HOERBIGER see http://www.hoerbiger-aks.com/en/hydraulik_01_1.php and a British company called bba-reman offer a rebuild service on these later pumps. see http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?content=Mercedes_convertible_roof_pump_hydraulic_sl_cl_slk_clk
dont know but they might offer a rebuild on your pump perhaps worth contacting them directly.
these guys were recommended in the USA http://www.calibermotors.com/parts.html Sorry I cant find a part no for the pump but if you contacted the UK online site I mentioned in my first post http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/default.aspx by E-MAIL they would help or Maybe Jay73 http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27853&highlight=Jay73

I have found a possible part no for the pump:- 1248002348 bosch number -0542020007
Its listed in the UK at a eye-watering £1,714-05 and thats discounted.

Theres a second hand one one listed at $1850 NZ -£611-23 by Startech Enterprises in New Zealand. http://www.4mercs.co.nz/ Thats on your side of the globe:D

At that sort of money I would definitely check the part no at your local MB dealer or on the pump itself!
